"I believe art should be an integral part of life. I've tried to achieve that with my furniture art. Not only does it bring sculpture into our homes but into the fabric of our daily lives. I try to
give my work a spiritual value, an almost magical energy that makes the viewer feel good." Stephen Huneck's furniture designs are not only wonderful to look at but are also functional. Each piece of Stephen Huneck furniture is constructed in the studios right here on Dog Mountain. Most of the figured maple, cherry, oak and ash woods that are used in the furniture are locally grown both on Dog Mountain and from other areas of Vermont . The wood is dried in our kiln using heat, air and a dehumidifer to extract the moisture from the wood. This process usually takes about 30 days. The wood is then brought into the studios where it is transformed into the beautiful hand crafted furniture you see here. These pieces are sure to become family heirlooms handed down generation to generation. |
