About Friends of Dog Mountain:

Friends of Dog Mountain (FODM) is a nonprofit organization established in the spring of 2015 by friends and family of the late artists Stephen & Gwen Huneck. Our mission is to steward and sustain the Dog Mountain property in St. Johnsbury as a public space for future generations of visitors to enjoy and celebrate, and to preserve and honor the important artistic contributions of Stephen Huneck to American Art.

 

Position Overview:

Friends of Dog Mountain seeks a part-time Development Director to implement and enhance the organization’s fundraising initiatives and capacity. The Development Director will work directly with the Executive Director, other Dog Mountain staff, and the Board’s Development Committee to plan, implement, and achieve the organization’s fundraising goals. The Director will be responsible for the development, implementation, communications, and management of the annual fund to support operations. Other responsibilities include: restricted funds for special projects; cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation of major gifts; grant writing; supervision and support of staff resources; assuring administrative tasks and processes are followed; oversight of the organization’s donor database (Little Green Light).

Reports To: Executive Director

Hours: 20-24 hours per week salaried position including occasional evening and weekend work. Flexible weekly schedule for the right candidate. Work will take place at Dog Mountain in St. Johnsbury, VT, at a home office (if desired), and via personal visits with donors and organizations in the community.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute annual appeal.
  • Refine and implement corporate giving/sponsorship program.
  • Enhance on site giving opportunities.
  • Coordinate and support philanthropic solicitations.
  • Develop online giving opportunities and initiatives.
  • Establish and support planned giving program.
  • Develop and execute special events giving opportunities.
  • Oversee organization’s donor database and support staff.
  • Develop and implement fundraising policies as appropriate.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years demonstrated successful fundraising experience.
  • Proven track record in fundraising and donor relations, including major gift solicitation (preferably in Vermont and/or related to arts/artists).
  • Experience utilizing social media platforms in a development capacity.
  • Experienced with digital, web, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Possess a working knowledge of software including Little Green Light (or similar CRM software), Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Grant research and writing experience.
  • Interest and passion for FODM’s mission.
  • Strong written and oral communications.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Personal and professional enthusiasm, energy, and sense of humor.
