2024: A Year We’ll Never Forget

2024 was a roller coaster, bringing ups and downs ranging from catastrophic flooding to our biggest Dog Party ever. Before we flip the calendar to next year, we’d like to share some of the things that made this year special.

We’re thrilled to announce that restoration of the iconic Dog Chapel is complete! We’ve restored the floors and the foundation, repaired the trim, repainted, and installed an ADA-compliant ramp, ensuring more inclusive accessibility to this beloved building!

We’ve also created new community gathering and seating spaces at the Angel Dog Overlook with help from volunteers at our annual Labor of Love Event.

Speaking of events, were you able to join us for the Total Solar Eclipse Celebration? Maybe you caught the Fall Dog Party, our biggest yet, or danced with your doggos at one of the free Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series concerts. We enjoyed media visits this year from the Boston Globe and PBS and were delighted to appear on “Shelter Me.”

Still, the year had its challenges. July’s catastrophic floods washed the banks of our beloved Dog Pond away, sending torrents of water down the hillside, damaging roads and buildings.

Sustainable restoration of the Dog Pond will require significant funding, but a generous donor has already promised to match up to $10,000 in donations.
